Private Guitar & Piano Instruction for Columbia, MD Families
For families and adults in Columbia seeking a higher standard of music education, finding the right instructor often means looking beyond the standard strip-mall music stores.
Located just under 20 minutes south of Columbia, Dan O Music Academy is a dedicated teaching studio offering premium private instruction in classical piano, acoustic guitar, and electric guitar. Directed by a Master of Music (M.M.) in Performance, our academy provides the focused, structured environment required to turn casual learners into highly proficient musicians.
Elevated Music Education for Howard County Students
Columbia is home to some of the most competitive high school and middle school music programs in the state. We actively design our curriculum to supplement these Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) ensembles.
Beyond the Basics
We don't just teach students how to memorize songs. Our instructors emphasize standard notation literacy, comprehensive music theory, and proper physical mechanics from day one.
State Adjudication Prep
We are uniquely equipped to prepare Columbia students for elite Maryland gateways, including the MMEA Solo & Ensemble Festival, giving them a distinct advantage for college applications.
A Professional Atmosphere
Situated in the Laurel Executive Park, our studio is designed purely for education. It is a quiet, professional space where students can focus entirely on their repertoire without retail distractions.
Our Core Disciplines
We are currently accepting new students for afternoon and evening slots, matching them with our credentialed teaching faculty based on their specific goals.
From establishing foundational right-hand technique for beginners to coaching advanced players through NYSSMA and ASTA-level classical repertoire.
Comprehensive piano instruction focusing on sight-reading, dynamic expression, pedaling technique, and performance readiness.
